Selling Your Domain

The most important thing to remember when selling a domain name is exposure: The desire to sell your domain should be made as public as possible in order to attract potential buyers within a timely fashion.

With Domain Name International, you can list your domain with us for free, and we subsequently do most of that work for you. Since we work with you on a commission basis we only make money if we sell your domain; therefore, you can be sure that we will be making every effort possible to accomplish this task.

Furthermore, we do not require exclusivity with our service. You may list your domain with as many other brokers as you like, and we only take a commission if we are responsible for putting you in contact with a buyer.

Here's how it works:

  1. You list your domains for sale on our site by filling in our submission form, supplying your domain, asking price, a short description, and your contact details.
  2. A potential buyer contacts us regarding your domain.
  3. You will be notified of all inquiries for your domain name by email via the administrative contact information listed at the WhoIs database, respective if the top level domain (TLD; the domain's extension) that you possess. This is done out of security for the true owner of the domain, so no one can benefit by listing a domain not in their ownership.
  4. If the buyer agrees to your initial asking price, then the sale of the domain will be administered using this price.
  5. If the buyer has not agreed to your initial asking price, we negotiate a price that is acceptable to both you and the buyer by acting as a third party negotiator and keeping in constant communication with both parties.
  6. The buyer wires the agreed upon sum to Domain Name International's escrow service, who will secure this money until transfer of the domain is completed.
  7. You will be contacted once we have received the completed funds wired to us, and you will then initiate transfer of the domain into the buyer's name (we will inform you of how to do this at that time).
  8. Once transfer of the domain to the buyer is confirmed through a WhoIs search at the TLD's respective database, we will wire the funds to you, minus our commission of 10% with a $250US minimum and wiring fees (usually less than $30US)

Additional services:

Front Page Ads: You may elect to place your domain for sale on our front page. This will maximize your domain's exposure and greatly increase the potential for your sale's completion. Please note that certain requirements are necessary for placing your domain on our front page, demand for this space is high. (1) Only the highest quality domains will be considered for front page inclusion, and (2) only if the domain is fairly priced, meaning within a reasonable range of estimated worth. If you are interested in having your domain considered for Front Page Advertising, email us at frontpage@domainnameintl.com with the domain you are considering. If accepted, the cost for inclusion on our front page is $50US per domain per month.

Featured List: You may elect to include your domain on our featured list section as well as the free Standard Listings. The Featured List is a higher traffic list with less competition and without categorical breakdown; therefore, inclusion in this list as well will increase your exposure and the potential for completing your sale. We additionally include a description to be entered to entice potential buyers. Email us at featured@domainnameintl.com with the domain(s) you are interested in listing on our Featured List. The cost for inclusion on this list is $20US per domain per 3 months.

Appraisals Service and Tips: It is strongly encouraged that you visit out appraisals page for free tips on pricing your domain. Although, you may list your domain for any price you wish, a greatly overvalued domain will never sell and ultimately waste your time. It is very important that you know your domain's general value in order to sell it and in a timely fashion. We do offer an Appraisal Service that will give you the estimated mean value of you domain and explain in detail each factor that contributes to this value. For domain appraisals, email us at appraisals@domainnameintl.com. This service costs $20US per domain.

If you have paid us to appraise your domain, you will get a certified stamp of appraised value on your free webpage, so potential buyers know that the domain has been evaluated at that price.

Free Web Page: A free web page will automatically be created for your domain based on the information you submit when you list it. It is advisable that you set up your domain to redirect any traffic to this page. The biggest mistake you can make in selling your domain is losing direct type in and search engine traffic and thus potential buyers. If a domain is only parked, then anyone trying to locate your "site" is shown only an error message, and do not gain the knowledge that your domain is up for sale. However, if any inquiries lead to a web page announcing that your domain is up for sale, then the potential for completing your sale is greatly increased. This service is completely free.

You may also elect to pay by wire transfer if the total is $200US or more, but please note there may be additional fees issued for both incoming and outgoing wires.
